The Process.

We can try so many things to pacify, to soothe, or to disconnect. In the world right now, those things seem to infiltrate every corner of our lives. If we can avoid pain, frustration, discomfort, or unhappiness, we had better well do it.

Why would we want to be upset? Why would we want to be in discomfort? Why can’t we just have things a little easier?

Often, the best stories, the classics, the ones worth reading, reveal difficulties and adversity and trouble for the character(s). No one reads a story of someone cruising through life.

But we’d rather read about it, hear about it from someone else, than go through it ourselves. It’s not interesting when you’re in the middle of it. You just want it to be over.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), this kind of thing sometimes is necessary for us to grow and become the person we’re created to be. It’s a process. We may not like every step, but we will without a doubt like the end result.

…”we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope…”
Romans 5
