Your life is your house.
You may not want people to come into your house. That’s ok. But your house won’t stay empty. You can keep kicking people out of your house, or not inviting them, but people will come back. The house of your life is meant to be shared with other people. It’s only a matter of who you let in, and what those people will experience in your house once they enter.
When people look into the house of your life, what do they see?
Do they see a life full of façades and masks, hiding what’s really inside? Is it a little dark in there, so they’re not exactly sure what they see? Or maybe it’s just ok. Nothing special. No different than what they’re used to.
Or will they find something a little different? Is there a light shining from the inside that gives them hope? Is it a place they can find rest, belong, begin to hope again, and maybe even experience freedom?
Have you even experienced those things in your own life?
I think a Man full of those things is always standing at your door and knocking.
We don’t have a choice whether or not the houses of our lives will fill up.
We have the choice of what we invite to fill our houses.
We have a choice of what our houses will be made of.
What is the house of your life made of?
I hope our lives shine light into the darkness. I hope we can build houses full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
Imagine what kind of life that would be. A house like that changes people.
I’m still building.
